Day 06: Sgr-Jmu highway remain closed as shooting stones continue | KNO

Srinagar, January 26 (KNO) : The Srinagar-Jammu highway continue to remain closed for the vehicular movement for the sixth consecutive day on Saturday while as the officials said that the road remain closed in view of continuous shooting stones at two places. The only road connecting Valley with rest of the States remain closed since Monday after the fresh snowfall trigger slippery conditions of the road at various places. The avalanche also hit the Jawahar tunnel in this week, which resulted in continuous closure of the road. Officials told KNO that road is being cleared but shooting stones at two places including Anokhi Nallah continue, thereby is halting the road clearance work here. The road has been cleared several times so far but the shooting stones continue here, thus disrupt the clearance work and continuation of Srinagar-Jammu highway, officials as per KNO correspondent said. Meanwhile, thousands of passengers including students continue to remain stranded continue to remain stuck on highway from last six days. However, the authorities claimed to have made adequate arrangements for the stranded passengers here. The stranded passengers continue to suffer on the highway who urged the State administration to take immediate steps to ensure the road is thrown open or airlift the passengers at an earliest so that they could heave a sigh of relief. Meanwhile, the traffic officials said the road will be thrown open for the stranded passengers subjected to the weather conditions on Sunday.(KNO)
